There is one snack I cannot ever seem to get enough of… pretzels.
So when I learned you could make ranch seasoned pretzels at home, I had to give them a try!
All you need is some butter, ranch seasoning mix, and an extra bit of dried dill. Then simply toss and bake in the oven – it couldn’t be any easier!
These have so much more flavor than store-bought brands and if you make with your own homemade ranch seasoning mix, you don’t have any of those unhealthy additives or MSG.
They’re so good, you won’t want to share. (Seriously, I devoured an entire batch in less than a week!) But these do make for the perfect party snack or holiday food gift idea if you’re feeling generous.
Ingredients
The simple ingredients you need to make this ranch seasoned pretzel recipe include:
- Pretzels. You can use twists or sticks, whichever you prefer. Opt for regular pretzels or gluten-free, if needed.
- Butter. Feel free to sub with a vegan butter alternative. You definitely want one with some butter flavoring for the best taste, though.
- Oil. Avoid using a strongly flavored variety, such as olive oil. Avocado oil is best since it is mildly flavored and won’t overpower the ranch seasoning.
- Ranch seasoning. It is so simple to make you own homemade ranch seasoning mix with a few spices. Or, you can buy a packet or jar at the store.
How to Make Ranch Seasoned Pretzels
These are the steps to follow to make this ranch seasoned pretzels recipe:
Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix
It’s no secret that ranch seasoning is a main ingredient in this pretzel recipe. While you absolutely can buy a pre-made mix, it is so simple to make your own at home!
You can even whip up a big batch and save some for another day.
You can either make this mix in the jar you will be storing it in, or use a bowl and then transfer it.
Mix ⅓ cup of buttermilk powder (this is usually on the baking aisle near the spices and seasonings), 1 tablespoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon onion powder, 2 teaspoons dried parsley, 2 teaspoons dried dill, 1 teaspoon dried chives, and salt and pepper. Stir well until everything is combined.
Make the Sauce
Next, take the ranch seasoning you just made and add 2 tablespoons to a medium-sized bowl. Mix in melted butter and oil along with the dried dill.
Give this sauce a good whisk until there are no chunks of spice left.
Toss with Pretzels
Place your chosen pretzels into a gallon-sized bag. Carefully pour the sauce all over them. Be sure not to spill any, you don’t want to waste any flavor!
Close the bag, ensuring you left some air trapped inside.
Give the bag a few gentle shakes until all of the pieces are fully coated in the sauce.
Bake in Oven
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 275℉. This lower temperature allows the flavoring to really set into the pretzels without overcooking or burning them.
Spread the pretzels out on the pan in a single layer. Be sure they are as even as possible for the best results.
Bake for about 10 minutes. Then, toss and flip the pretzels and continue baking for another 8 to 10 minutes.
